Please don’t take this the wrong way but the messages you have been hearing from society since you were a small boy are wrong.

A “real” man does show his emotions.

A “real” man does care.

A “real” man does cry

A “real” man can be vulnerable

A “real” man is allowed to say “I can’t do it anymore, please help me”

A “real” man can struggle with things

A “real” man is only human

A “real” man does not NEED to be the main provider to his family (after all that’s why you are in a partnership, to share the load)

A “real” man laughs, loves and lusts

Please just relax now and enjoy your life, if it’s not working for you ask for help, stop what you are doing and do something differently.

If you or a loved one are struggling emotionally or just need someone neutral to talk to there are trained counsellors at LifeLine 13 11 44  or Relationships Australia at relationships.org.au and Beyond Blue at beyond blue.org.au   to take your call.

This is so true! I also recently learned that men who grew up in the country are more prone to suppress emotions than men who grew up in the city.
