My last post was a while ago, in which I was lamenting the idea of “giving up” or “persevering”.  In recent weeks my darling daughter at the tender age of 14 and a half years old has become the example of positive change.  This may be a little braggy but she’s worth it.

After 7 1/2 years of pursuing dance as a hobby with a view to a career she made the decision to take a break for six months to reassess her pathway.  She is now immersed in the Basketball world in our town.  She took on the challenge in February to become a Basketball Referee, to which she has taken like a duck to water.  She is assistant coaching an under 12 boys basketball team alongside me. Plus playing in her own team.  She also joined the high schools Varsity team.  A true example of what following your gut and your heart can lead towards.

I am so proud of the choices she has made to be brave and step outside her comfort zone, to not give into peer pressure and follow her instincts.  This is a lesson I wish I had learned at such a young age and then perhaps I wouldn’t find it so difficult and heart wrenching to follow her example even now at my mature age.

Not only has this decision had an impact on her social activities it has built her reputation within the Basketball Association, her confidence levels have increased ten fold and she is now applying for new clubs and challenges at school.  She took on the challenge to fill a Student Representative Council position for a Term off her own bat.

She is proof positive that no matter what it is you want in life if you follow your gut instinct it will work wonders in your life as a whole.  Small changes in your approach can and do effect your whole self.

Be brave, be the change you want to see in your life.
