We all have days where we don’t feel like ourselves. Something is a little off, we may be extra tired, or be suffering from brain fog. When we feel this way we are also a little grumpy and not so nice to be around and we usually retreat from the world by sleeping or curling up with Netflix and bingeing on chips and chocolates.

What would you say if I told you these approaches, while feeling pretty cozy at the time do nothing to help alleviate our lethargy? You’ve heard it before, feeling tired – move, exercise is the cornerstone of having high energy levels.

Exercise boosts our metabolism and gets our hearts pumping blood faster around our body. It also releases feel good hormones such as oxytocin and syntocin which makes us feel lighter and happier. Instead of cortisol coursing through our veins causing us to feel fat, frumpy and failing, we have these lovely feel good hormones giving us confidence and boost of energy which in turn makes us much nicer people to be around.

We are what we eat – I’m sure you’ve heard this numerous times and it’s true. If we choose to fill our bodies with chemical laden, genetically modified, man made, factory produced foods, we choose to alter our body chemistry and functionality. We change our bodies ability to process food and eliminate toxins. We become toxic and suffer from illnesses such as constipation, diabetes, weight gain and iron deficiencies to name a few.

However if we choose to eat organic whole food, grown in nature and appearing in its natural form we are fueling our bodies and enhancing cell growth as well as increasing our energy levels. Fresh food also has the added benefit of tasting pretty good too.

When you feel grumpy and out of sorts your first instinct is to hide from people. What if I suggested the opposite? Finding people who uplift you or reaching out to a friend who in the past has helped you out of a funk and you know will make you smile. Company quite often helps us to reconnect with society and helps to give us feelings of wellbeing and happiness. Who could you be with a mentor?
