Restoring my soul.

I was having a conversation with my 12 year old daughter about the latest choice made by a Minister to destroy a natural wonder in the name of making gross profits for major mining companies.  Her take on the matter is this “adults are stupid”, “do they really think us kids want a great dirty hole in the ocean, filled with sludge, Instead of the wonderful Great Barrier Reef?”.

Now I would have to agree with her on that one.  Greed pure and simple, is at the forefront of political decision making in this Country at this moment in time.

The newly elected Abbott Government is about destruction – quite simply put they want to destroy the majority of Australian’s way of life to profit the few privileged people that run and own the majority of businesses in this country, so they can continue to not pay their fair share of taxes.

Cuts to education spending, cuts to healthcare/Medicare, cuts to welfare i.e the unemployment benefits and Disability Pensions, increase in the retirement age to 70years old – the decrease in aged pensions.  All cuts that effect the most vulnerable in our society, cuts that hurt and injure and have the potential to kill those people that live close to the poverty line already.

Why? you may ask. to what benefit? So that Abbott and Hockey can balance a budget and stay on the dinner party invitation list of the likes of Gina Rinehardt and Clive Palmer.  Make no mistake this government does not care about Australia or Australians, it only cares about making greater profits for the top 1% of wealth in this country.  Their answer is to keep taking from the poor and giving more to the rich – the ones that don’t need it at all.  This is nothing but a disgusting money grab from a despicable Government of wealthy money grabbing worms without conscience or moral fibre.

What type of country will our Grandchildren inherit, those of us that are middle and low income earners?  An environment that is on the brink of self destruction, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, no healthcare, little available education facilities, no TAFE’s, no opportunities unless they are somehow lucky to make it into the “wealthy” category.  Now some will say I’m being bleak, that future governments will see the errors of the ways of this Government, however it is very difficult it seems to remove oneself from the allure of a publicly applauded Budget Surplus than it is to give where it is needed.

The Media need to change their viewpoint, journalists with ethics and morals need to start reporting the truth about the Governments actions, they need to hold the Government to account and stop proliferating the fairy tales that are told by Ministers throughout all levels of Government.  The Media need to tell the people the FACTS, the cold hard facts of what is happening in this country.  The Public MUST be told the truth, stop feeding them with fantasy fictions – that they are happy to swallow without much way of researching the truth.

Welfare/Charity organisations need to put out releases to the Media about the actual numbers of homeless, jobless, elderly, ill, people there are that use their services.  The Public should be given the truth about where the welfare dollars are being spent, no twisted statistics that make one sound worse than the other.  The Public need to be given the cold hard facts – no sugar coating.  Can we handle the truth? Will the truth bring anarchy and riots in the streets? If so – so be it, it’s time the Australian people got out of their comfortable chairs and off their bums and exercised their democratic right to protest a Government that is unsound, that is corrupt, that is underlying evil in it’s existence.

It’s TIME people of Australia – to stop drinking the Murdoch/Abbott Koolaid – it’s time to break our addiction to lies, lies and more lies – it’s time to stand up and STOP the destruction of our Australian way of life, or International reputation and our position with the United Nation.  It’s time Australia to stop cowtowing to a minor group of people with money, the fact is if we strike it COSTS them money – We need to strike – shut down the ports – shut down the trucking and distribution of goods except food – shut down the country until this government hears us.
