Well here we are at the beginning of yet another year, 2017 has a lot to make up for from the debacle that was 2016 (for some). We had our highs and lows and wins and defeats. But we are all still standing ready to fight another day.
My youngest started secondary school and we thought we were going to have a great year after a good start of attendance. That was not to last long as into second term he began to struggle with School refusal anxiety disorder again, which meant he was home more than at school. At first the school were very helpful but they can’t help if a student isn’t physically there. We changed his classes and limited his time with one particular teacher but alas that solution did not last long. Toward the end of the year I finally had enough and asked for him to see the school Psychologist, thankfully they listened and with hope we will see an improvement coming into 2017 school year. He also had some highs on the basketball court and happily plays with a domestic team so all is not bleak.
My daughter faced challenges with “team mates” which thankfully were sorted out and the team is now back on track and playing as one again. She had huge success on the Basketball court and in her refereeing, winning a prestigious award for her efforts. She applied for and was successful in receiving a place as on of the Year 10 Student Representative Council members, which she is very excited about.
My eldest son graduated from High School and will be on his way to University in March. He got his heart broken and survived, he also learned some difficult lessons about friendships that will stick with him I’m sure throughout his life. He had an amazing time in January 2016 heading off to the USA with his classmates on an exchange program. He ended 2016 school year with a Sportsman of the Year award for his achievements in several sporting arenas.
I don’t talk about my marriage here to protect my husbands privacy so I will only say that we are a work in progress.
My Chefs Toolbox business went from startup to better by the end of the year, I had many lessons in this journey in regards to my growth and learning about how I deal with people. I will be taking on more lessons to help grow my business. I hope to see France again this year so that is my BIG goal for the year.
I am only 3 units away from finishing my Bachelors in Communications so by the close of this year I will be a University Graduate finally at the age of 45.
In 2017 I will be continuing my journey of self discovery with new business programs and meditation and yoga practices. I will be taking on a more positive outlook and learning to let go of other peoples feelings – I will allow them their emotions and keep only mine.
As Oprah Winfrey said -“BE THANKFUL FOR WHAT YOU HAVE; YOU’LL END UP HAVING MORE. IF YOU CONCENTRATE ON WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE, YOU WILL NEVER, EVER HAVE ENOUGH.”
One of my new mantra’s for 2017 – Wishing you all a prosperous and miraculous journey in 2017.
